He had about 10 minutes by himself to pray by the cell Maximilian Kolbe died in and all he had in his pocket at the time was a little Polish coin. Br. Kolbe set the coin on the cell floor while he prayed and picked it back up before he left. "If I'm going to be talking about Maximilian Kolbe in front of a group of people, I'll take that coin with me," says Br. Kolbe. "And I'll ask him, 'Please pray for me. Help me get through this because your whole life pointed towards Christ.'"

Iconographer Vivian Imbruglia of Sacred Images Icons wrote this icon last summer. The Marian chasuble reflects both Stanleys’ devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary; the staff symbolizes Bl. Stanley’s call to be the Shepherd who did not run.

by the parish of Saint William in London where he was serving as a deacon. The manuscript was printed in 1521, the same year the Catholic faith came to the Philippines, where Fr. Mateo grew up. "There's that connection from my ministry in the Diocese of Lexington and the name that I have now as a monk," says Fr. Mateo.
